of things that provide pleasure for the body and soul.Unique landscape
seems just like made either for extreme or for recreational sports,
unique underwater locations of mysterious sunken ships surrounded by
rich submarine world, unique wines, and especially unique - truffles.
True heaven for hedonists and gourmands.
- Architecture in Istra
Starting from prehistoric remains over a great number of well preserved
ancient architecture and wonderful specimens of medieval and early Christian
architecture, not to mention the luxurious buildings from the time of
Venetian republic... Here we have actually presented a totally different
look of Istra. The buildings that are always here present, only we do
not notice them and they give a special mark to Istrian landscape...
- Manifestations
Numerous festivals, artistic colonies, traditional events. And the locations
where all that takes place are more than imaginative: lonely medieval
towns situated on hills, fortresses, castles, palaces, Roman amphitheatre,
beaches...
- Misty Towns
As a counterbalance to every lively town near the coast, the quiet and
peaceful towns in central Istra also impose with its presence. The image
of Istra would not be complete without these little towns.
- Secret Istra
Here we reveal several Istrian stories that will turn you to those who
can see the true values of, at first sight, unnoticeable things.
- Istrian Musical Instruments
A significant part of Istra's cultural heritage is music. Its traditional
musical instruments make it so very special. They are very specific
and their melodies are really hard to record in their true fidelity
because of the very characteristic non tempered scale.
- Parks In Nature
There is no need for much talk about natural beauties of Istra. The
islands of paradise, the area of wild nature, endemic floral and animal
species… About 50 different species of orchids has been found
in Istra and some of them is protected by law.
The description of Brijuni was taken from the "Parks
Of Nature" tour to illustrate the tours... Take
a look at some mesmerizing pictures of Brijuni on the right!
The "Parks Of Nature" tour features these additional descriptions
of places of great beauty:
Lim bay
Cape Kamenjak
Gracišce - Pican
Pazin abyss
Baredine cave
Brijuni
National park Brijuni is the most interesting and the most indented
collection of islands in Istra. It is composed of 14 islands all together
– two bigger ones (Veli and Mali Brijun), and lots of little islands
(Vanga, Kozada, st. Jerolim, Galija and others). The islands were settled
already in the prehistoric time and the building starts during the Roman
rule. The remains of Neptune's and Venus's temples were found next to
remains of the mammoth feet and the Byzantine camp and old Christian
basilica from a later period. When Pula was in decline, malaria hit
the islands that became desolated. But with the help of Robert Koch
the situation was restored and after that the islands became elite summer
resort. During the time of Josip Broz Tito they were closed for public
and in that time they were visited by the leading politicians of the
world and elite actors like Richard Burton, Sophie Lauren, Elizabeth
Taylor and others. In 1983 they were pronounced the national park and
reopened to public. Rich flora creating magnificent green landscapes
provides home to many bird species like pheasant, peacocks and big game
like deer, roe deer and mouflons. Next to the species that live freely
in the nature, as part of the Safari park and the Zoo many other animals
from various parts of the world are being raised, most of which were
presents from foreign officials to president Tito. Next to mentioned
attractions, there are golf courses, biking tracks and walking paths.
